Following the Lakers’ 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs, a Grade 2 MCL sprain, which has a recovery time of 3-5 weeks, was blamed as the cause for the elimination.
The injury, which allegedly happened in a third-quarter collision with Donte DiVincenzo, was presented to the world by LeBron media fanboy, ESPN’s Dave McMeniman as the reason that James and the Lakers were bounced in the postseason’s opening round. James, ever the ham, was seen hobbling after the game ( there just coincidentally happened to be a camera present). However, that did not stop him from painting the town red until the wee hours of the morning.
The reported injury which kept LeBron from attending the Met Gala did not stop LeBron from cutting a rug at a recent event.
Video of the Lakers star showing his dance moves and his knee shows no signs of ailing him at all.
The video sparked an immediate back and forth between fans, with some thining the basketball star was either playing up or outright fakug the injury, with others stating he was already recovered.
However recent history reveals this is not the first time an alleged injury LeBron suffered heading into the offseason seemed to miraculously recover in an inexplicably short amount of time. After the Cavaliers got curb stomped by the Golden State Warriors in the 2018 NBA Finals, LeBron showed up to the post-game presser sporting a cast on his right hand and using this alleged injury as his way out, saying that he played 75% of the four-game series with a broken hand. However, the hand seemed to give him no issues over games 2,3, and 4 as he threw down numerous ferocious slam dunks and used a series of handshakes, some of them elaborate, at the close of Game 4. It should also be noted he was seen shortly after the conclusion of the finals sans the aforementioned cast and once again, the hand seemed to give James the slightest bit of an issue.
In 2023 the foot injury that James supposedly needed surgery on was pushed as the culprit for the Lakers getting swept by the Denver Nuggets ( the surgery never happened, in case you’re wondering).
This pathological obsession to avoid accepting accountability for a loss is why after over two decades of a successful NBA career, LeBron James is still seeking the respect of many basketball fans. As long as this continues to be his modus operandi upon facing failure, he ensures that the acknowledgment of his greatness from many basketball fans will be a pipe dream.
